Charlie has been a valued part of the Bike for Good community since joining us in 2014 following his retirement, and over the past decade has become a hugely important part of our organisation, our workshops, and the wider cycling community in Glasgow.
From repairing donated bikes and helping save hundreds of bicycles from landfill, to mentoring new volunteers, supporting led rides, and helping with the day-to-day running of our spaces, Charlie brings generosity, patience and positivity to everything he does.
No task has ever been too small, and his willingness to help wherever needed has made a lasting impact on staff, volunteers and customers alike.
Charlie’s calm leadership and supportive nature have helped create a welcoming environment for countless people coming through our doors — particularly those taking their first steps into volunteering, cycling, or rebuilding confidence through community support.
Over the years, Charlie has not only shared his skills and experience, but also his belief in the power of cycling and social enterprise to create meaningful social change.
Winning the Volunteer Champion Award is a hugely deserved recognition of the time, care and dedication he has given to Bike for Good and the wider community over many years.
